2017’s thriller film Get Out which is nominated for Best Picture, has become a hit with critics and audiences alike as it deals with timeless themes of racism, psychological horrors, and the feeling of an underlying sinister plot where “things aren’t always as they seem”.  Much of this is attributed to the various classic films that influenced director Jordan Peele (who is also nominated for Best Director). Get Out encompasses the best of Hollywood’s horror, thriller and racially themed offerings, running the gamut of films as varied as The Stepford Wives and Rosemary’s Baby, to Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner?, to “atmospheric” horror films such as Jaws and the original Halloween, to more modern day films such as Silence of the Lambs and even the Scream film franchise.
