Mouseketeer turned rock promoter was 74

London-born actress Doreen Tracey, 74, died of cancer at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, California, on Jan. 10. The daughter of an American dance team, she appeared on The Mickey Mouse Club from 1955-59, along with Annette Funicello, Tommy Kirk, Johnny Crawford, Don Grady and other pert Mouseketeers. Tracey also appeared on the series Annette and The Donna Reed Show, and in the films The Farmer Takes a Wife and Westward Ho, the Wagons! She later joined the promotions department at Warner Bros. Records, working with Frank Zappa, Tower of Power and The Doobie Brothers (she also posed nude for Gallery magazine, and toured with the USO during the Vietnam War). She recalled that when she and Annette Funicello began filling out, Disney made them wear “silly tight T-shirts under our sweaters to try and flatten us out. Naturally, we used to punch holes in the right places.” Tracey said in 2010 that “I’ve been trying to get a memoir done for years. But then a new chapter arises and I go, ‘Oh, no, it’s too early.’”—Eve Golden
